Victorian 15ct Gold and Turquoise Snake Necklet.
Representing everlasting love, serpentine jewellery was a popular theme for fashionable jewellery in the early to mid Victorian period.
This sinuous closed articulated chain necklet features a reptile's head with a heart hanging from its mouth reflecting this symbolism.
The scaled head is mounted with oval turquoise of good colour in a bezel setting.
Concealed inside the head is a depressed tongue clasp that is firm and secure and in excellent working order.
The back of the head is stamped 15ct .
The eyes are comprised of bezel-set garnets. The heart has a small rose-cut diamond placed in the centre.
