Antique SilverGeorgian/early Victorian paste cross

A rather wonderful Georgian silver and paste brooch claw set with clear and amethyst coloured flint glass.

This technique skilfully emulates a number of gem stones including old cut diamonds and the aforementioned amethyst.

This pretty combination uses the colour of stones that were appropriate to be worn in “ light mourning “ the period that followed after the first anniversary of a loved ones passing.

Irrespective of that, this charming brooch that would work well on many outfits.

Paste jewellery also had the ability to sparkle and glow under candle light like the real gems it copied.

In good condition.
