An impressive large oval antique silver locket.

This locket has a plain back and a decorative front with a cross band embellishment featuring floral engraving surrounding a soaring swallow.

The swallow symbolised love and protection and jewellery with this motif was often gifted to loved ones who were travelling to ensure a safe return.

One of the original fitted picture frames is intact and has the addition of a perspex shield to protect the photograph.

The hinge and bale are in good condition as is the rest of the piece. There are some minor surface markings commensurate with age.
