A classic statement piece from the reflecting the style of the Aesthetic Movement drawing inspiration from the natural world. 

The decorative owl amongst foliage motif has been created by cutting away the metal surface using a jewellery saw and drill.

The edges are then filed down by hand to create a smooth uniform surface.

These lockets are quite rare as a consequence of the craftsmanship required in this time consuming process.

The interior contains a a piece of dark material to give the front definition.

The original frame for the photograph is missing.

Apart from that, the fittings and hinges are sound and secure.

The back is plain apart from a partially rubbed out Hallmark for Birmingham  and the maker’s stamp EU.

The bale of the locket is stamped with a lion.

There is a minuscule dent to the front rim adjacent to the catch plus some minimal surface markings to the back, commensurate with age.
