Large Antique Silver Victorian Locket and Matching Collar.
A wonderful set comprising a Victorian Sterling silver collar and matching locket from the Aesthetic era.
In this era the hand crafted was preferred to the industrial and the themes were drawn from various influences including nature and Japanese motifs.
The flat “bon bon” shaped panels of the collar are individually etched with various floral and bird engravings with the exception of one panel that has a butterfly motif.
The large oval locket has a pair of swooping swallows under a decorative geometric cross border.
The back of the locket is engraved with a spray of daffodils.
The hinged interior has spaces for two photographs secured by the original fitted rimmed picture frames.
Despite testing for silver, there are no Hallmarks indicating this piece could be Continental in origin.
A rare beauty. It's very difficult to find matching collars and lockets of this quality.
In very good condition with some minor surface marking commensurate with age. The fittings are all sound and secure.
