Antique Edwardian Silver Rope Long guard Chain.
A stylish, decorative and pretty twisted rope link fancy longuard chain.
These chains were of a length that allowed a ladies pocket watch to be attached that could then be tucked into a waist band of a skirt or a pocket a a waist coat.
They are sometimes referred to as muff chains as the length also accommodated being threaded through a cylindrical hand warming muff so that the hands could be freed without the muff falling to the ground.
For the modern wearer the length gives the versatility of being doubled up. The original dog clip is stamped REAL SILVER, possibly American in origin.
