Antique Victorian 18 ct Yellow Gold Diamond and Ruby Double Snake Ring.
A smooth and sinuous 18ct yellow gold double headed serpent ring.
This ring is Hallmarked for Chester 1898 on each band.
One head is set with a diamond and one is set with a ruby.
The heads are also detailed with eyes and open mouths to give them some lifelike character.
Victorian jewellery is rich with symbolism and these snake rings were crafted to represent eternal love, fidelity and protection. A snake biting its own tail, the ouroboros, has no beginning or end, it’s eternal.
