A smooth and sinuous Antique silver belcher link long guard chain.

This is a great chain for adding charms, pendants or lockets.

Origianally the length allowed a ladies pocket watch to be attached then tucked into a waist band of a skirt or a pocket of a waist coat.

They are sometimes referred to as muff chains as the length also accommodated being threaded through a cylindrical hand warming muff so that the hands could be freed without the muff falling to the ground.

For the modern wearer the length gives the versatility of being doubled up.

The original dog clip is sound and secure.
