Large Antique Early Victorian Rose Gold Amethyst and Natural Pearl Ring.
An eye-catching example of an early Victorian ring that reflects some of the features of the preceding Georgian period.
An absolutely gorgeous deep lavender, oval amethyst is surrounded by natural split pearls in a crimped mount. The three-pronged shoulder of the ring has a Fleur-de-Lis design influence.
There is another three-point section that blends into the graduated band.
The half-covered back allows for some light to be refracted through the facet-cut stone to enhance its subtle glow. Quite possibly of Continental origin.
The unusually large dimensions may also indicate this was a “ glove ring “ to be worn on the outside of evening gloves.
Definitely a statement piece of jewellery, a perfect cocktail ring. Richly regal and opulent.
Some slight abrasions to the surface of the stone do not detract from its presentation. Some variation in the colour and lustre of the pearls.
Overall in very good condition for its age.
