14kt Deco Horace Welch Floating Opal Earrings

Decorative and highly unusual, these “ floating opal “ earrings were created by Horace Welch using a technique he first patented in 1922.

Opal chips are floating in a viscous liquid encased in glass globes.

The 14ct yellow gold caps are embellished with an Etruscan style wire work decoration.

The fittings are Shepherd hook style for pierced ears.

Unique and highly collectable.

In excellent condition.

Circa 1930

Stone: opal chips encased and floating in liquid.

Height: From top of the hook: 3.5 cm

Weight: Per earring 2.3gm stamped with Patent Pending which accurately dates them to C1930.
