A beautiful, ornately engraved oval locket.

The hinged interior contains  two clear crystal covered treasures.

On the left is an original photograph of a moustachioed gentleman, on the right an elaborately mounted lock of hair.

Whilst this combination was frequently represented in mourning jewellery, its also possible that this is a love token so one could hold the loved one close to the heart during a less final period of separation.

The front is engraved in a floriate design, the back is more geometric.

The back of the locket also has a blank, central rectangular cartouche that could be engraved with initials or a monogram.
