Victorian goldtone brooch set with Cabochon foil backed crystal
From the mid Victorian era this lucky horseshoe brooch personifies this era.
Brooches were big and worn at the neck and sometimes used to hold long guards in place.
The foil backed Crystals are designed to simulate the domed garnets or carbuncles as they were called, that were popular at this time.
The horseshoe was a much loved motif as it represented good luck and fortune.
