A beautiful quality 9ct yellow gold Back & Front highly decorative oval locket.

The front has a raised central panel heavily engraved with a stylised “cobweb" motif filled with a floriated pattern.

This is surrounded by twisted rope engraved border.

The back has the same central raised oval panel and this is hand engraved with a garland of leaves encircling a small blank diamond shaped cartouche.

A rope twist border also appears as a decorative surround.

The stepped section on the front and back is solid 9ct gold with only a thin interior of gilded metal to improve strength. 

The interior is fitted with the original tin-type photo and picture frame that has the original glass cover.

The other side has a milgrain border but the frame is missing. In very good condition.

The hinge is secure and the locket closes securely.

The bale is attached to a fancy diamond patterned loop that will accommodate a wide variety of neck chains.
