A stylish Aesthetic movement style locket in the luminous glow of silver gilt.

Hallmarked for Birmingham1879, it fits into the earlier years of this era.

Rich with the engraved symbolism of swallows for returning happiness, butterflies for transformation and sweeping foliage.

The back of the locket is plain apart from the Hallmarks for Birmingham and Sterling Silver and Makers Mark M&L.

The double sided framed interior has 2 generous sized picture inserts with their original rims.

One side has a perspex cover which has been added to protect the contents. The other side still contains a photograph with the original, slightly domed glass.

The photograph can easily be replaced. There is also a very small date stamp that denotes the date 1879 along side a lion symbol on the interior front.

In very good condition.

Dimensions: 4.3cm, excluding the bale x 3.5cm wide and 0.5cm deep.
