A stylish and unusual piece of Antique Georgian Mourning Jewellery.

Comprised of a French Jet stylised Maltese cross with a central facet cut, rock crystal cover protecting an intricately plaited lock of fair hair in an ornate gold frame. 

The Maltese cross was a symbol of protection and a badge of honour. The back of the pendant is black lacquer covered copper, a typical Georgian treatment.

A plain jump ring allows the pendant to be worn with a chain. In very good antique condition.
